Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 lobster tails (about 6-8 oz each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley fresh or dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Kitchen shears
  • Foil-lined baking sheet
  • Small bowl
  • Basting brush
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Preheat your oven broiler to 500°F (260°C) and line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. Using kitchen shears, butterfly the lobster tails by carefully cutting the top of each shell straight down the center until you reach the tail. Gently lift the meat while keeping it attached at the base so that it rests atop the shell.
  3. Pat the lobster tails dry with paper towels to ensure the garlic butter adheres nicely to the meat.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, paprika, chopped parsley, and salt and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
  5. Brush about half of the garlic butter mixture generously over the exposed lobster meat, ensuring it gets into all the nooks and crannies.
  6. Place the lobster tails on the prepared baking sheet, positioning them about 5-6 inches from the broiler’s heat source. Broil for 8-10 minutes until the meat turns opaque and is slightly browned on top. Midway through cooking, spoon additional garlic butter over the tails to enhance the flavor.
  7. Once done, remove from the oven and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

This recipe is ideal for transforming a simple seafood dinner into an elegant dining experience. You can easily substitute unsalted butter with ghee or olive oil for a dairy-free version, and if you’re not a fan of garlic, try using shallots instead for a milder flavor. For a twist, experiment with different herbs like dill or tarragon, or add a pinch of cayenne for a little heat. Any leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoyed within a day or two for the best flavor and texture.
