Ingredients

For the filling
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
For the rollups
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or a mix of cheddar & mozzarella
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent dough sheet
For the garlic butter glaze
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife

Method

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 lb (450 g) of ground beef along with 1 small finely diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent.
  2. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper to the skillet. Stir in 1 tablespoon each of ketchup and yellow mustard, and let the mixture cook for 1-2 minutes to combine the flavors. Remove the skillet from heat.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out 1 can of refrigerated pizza dough (or crescent dough) into a rectangle.
  4. Evenly spread the beef mixture over the dough and sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese blend) over the top.
  5. Starting at the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log, similar to making cinnamon rolls. Slice the log into 1 to 1.5-inch thick pinwheels and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each rollup.
  6. Combine 3 tablespoons of melted butter with 1 teaspoon garlic powder and brush the mixture generously over the tops of the rollups. Optionally, sprinkle 1 teaspoon dried parsley on top for added color and flavor.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 30 minutes, or until the rollups are golden and cooked through.
