Ingredients

Dough
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 oz/226 g
Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar optional, for dusting

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat 4 oz of softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into the 8 pre-cut triangles.
  4. Place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture at the wide end of each triangle, taking care not to overfill.
  5. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the pointed tip, ensuring the filling is completely sealed inside.
  6. Arrange the filled crescents on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops lightly with 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the rolls are golden brown.
  8. Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then dust with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For best results, allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before mixing. This recipe is versatile; try swapping the cream cheese with mascarpone or ricotta for a different texture, or add mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or a spoonful of jam for an extra twist. If you prefer a savory version, omit the sugar and add herbs or garlic. Enjoy these rolls warm for a truly comforting treat, and store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to a day.
