Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Mix-in
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, consider slightly reducing the oven temperature and baking them a minute longer. You can experiment with different types of chocolate or add nuts for variation. Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for several days.
