Ingredients

  • 1 package Refrigerated crescent roll dough (8-count)
  • 1 can Cherry pie filling about 21 oz
  • 2 tablespoons Cream cheese softened
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar plus extra for glaze
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Coarse sugar optional, for topping
  • ½ cup Powdered sugar for optional glaze
  • 1-2 teaspoons Milk for optional glaze

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, prepare the cream cheese filling by mixing 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Unroll the package of refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into the pre-cut triangles.
  4. Place about a half teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each triangle, then add 1-2 cherries along with a bit of the cherry pie filling. Be careful not to overload, as too much filling may burst out during baking.
  5. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal. It’s okay if a little filling shows; it just adds to the homemade charm.
  6. Brush the tops of each bite with 1 tablespoon of melted butter. If desired, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of coarse sugar over the top to add a delightful crunch.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the bites are beautifully golden brown.
  8. For an optional glaze, whisk together ½ cup powdered sugar with 1-2 teaspoons of milk until you achieve your desired consistency.
  9. Allow the bites to cool for a few minutes after baking, then drizzle the glaze over them before serving.

Notes

This recipe is very versatile; try experimenting with different pie fillings such as blueberry, apple, or peach to suit your taste. For a flakier texture, you can substitute puff pastry for crescent rolls. The optional coarse sugar topping adds a wonderful crunch, but can be omitted if you prefer a simpler finish. These bites are best enjoyed warm and can be paired with vanilla ice cream, coffee, or tea for a well-rounded dessert experience.
